Hourly studio rates are $40/hr. for all studio services (mixing, recording/tracking, editing, etc.) except mastering.
Daily rate (8hrs) is $300 (+$35/hr for each additional hour up to 12). Requires $200 deposit at time of booking and must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance.
Project rates may run lower than hourly rates and are negotiated when a project plan is set up. To set up a project, either call or email us using the Contact Us page. We can work around any reasonable budget.
Mastering rates are calculated per-song by the mastering house being used. Since we use multiple mastering houses, rates and availablility will vary.
Rates for other services are based on project.
Cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance. A 50% rate fee will be charged for time booked and not attended without adequate notice.
Originally founded in 1998, the studio has grown immesurably over the years, changing locations a few times and now, ultimately, returning to its roots with an all new professionally designed layout. The room has been acoustically tuned, and the monitors carefully calibrated to allow for the flattest, truest response possible. The control room features two workstations to handle most tasks. There is a third "back office" workstation for editing, graphic, video and web work that is not open to clients directly which can be used for alternate tasks even while other sessions are going on.
The main work station is based around a Mac Pro, Pro Tools 10/11HD Native core system with a Quad UAD2 DSP processing card. Surrounded by over a dozen high end and custom built preamps and outboard gear, the mix spot is an ergonomic dream come true for any engineer. With the arrival of our Slate Raven Mixing/Editing surface, the studio experience has gotten even cooler!
The second workstation is based around an intel iMac used mainly as a writing/MIDI workstation behind the 88 piano weighted key controller. It has access to the studio's vast sample library, and both virtual instruments and rack synth units.
The live room features a bamboo wood floor as well as a tile floor and a coffered/chambered ceiling making the room sound bigger than it actually is without it being "boomy". Installed on the wall is a monitor and keyboard/mouse setup that is directly connected to the main workstation which allows artists to have visual queues for overdubs and punches making for a ultra efficient workflow. If artists choose, they can even run their own sessions from the live room using this setup.
In addition to the studio, MEI also offers offsite mixing and mastering through our partners in Conneticuit at Add9 Productions. We offer free data storage and transfer to these facilities for the life of your project and can provide you with physical CD's for mix jobs, and PMCD's for masters. We can assign you ISRC codes which most online distributors require (iTunes, Amazon etc.) and embed them on your disc ready for duplication. We also have partnered with CD duplication facilities that can offer affordable solutions for your professional replication and duplication needs.
